I have been blown away/humbled/honestly terrified at the amount of times my blog was mentioned in my presence this week! Some people just bringing it up randomly, some encouraging me, some finding out about it for the first time. It’s so strange that it literally only now really hit me that people read this! You guys read Regan’s random ramblings and thoughts! I am shocked and it has definitely made me really think about what I’m writing. Not that I didn’t before but now I have some faces to the the people in front of the screens that read me stuff… which is actually weird.
At the very beginning I just wanted a place to write. I needed an area to express my thoughts. Now it's become a challenge to myself and way that I can speak into people's lives!
Sunday evening I attended a young adults meeting that gets together weekly. The topic was about being mission minded. How do we know that we are making disciples and what even does a disciple look like? The main definition that collectively was agreed upon was,
A disciple is someone you train and are there to encourage and be an example for how to live in a Christ-like manner that will, eventually, make new disciples for Jesus Christ themselves.
I can’t see you physically as you read this and maybe not even as you live your life but I pray that this blog is inspiring you to live for Jesus!
My mom celebrated her 49th birthday in heaven on February 23rd. Typically its on anniversaries like that when people tell me ways that mom impacted their life. She didn’t have a blog. She refused to get facebook, even though everyone else had it. She served and made disciples through how she lived her life. In the places she chose to serve. One lady told me that she only went to girls club to hear my mom read the bible story! My heart wept reading that! The simple act of reading a bible story that kept a young girl coming back for more! Seriously how encouraging is that! The little thing that you may do, maybe even begrudgingly do, could be impacting a person's life even though you may never know. Making disciples, in my opinion, doesn’t necessarily mean constant interaction with people or a person, it just may mean faithfulness in a calling.
I pray I am faithful. I am not perfect no one is. I fail so much! I am definitely not the best example that people could look to for a role model. My mom would have said the same! I saw her live though and I saw her fail, but she is now one of my biggest hero’s. I am so proud of the family I come from! That my moms name is known as one of integrity and service. That my Grandma taught me that its not about the show you can put forward; its about your heart, the people you love, and the people you serve.
Fewf this was a deep post but I will continue to write as long as God allows/wills, whether it be here or just in a private journal. I hope that I may be a blessing in someone’s life because I know that so many people have and continue to be blessings in mine. Go and be a servant to all.
