I will do a few honeymoon posts and then when I get my wedding pictures back I will do a wedding day post! Okie dokie sounds good so lets get into the honeymoon trip story!
We decided to stay in Winnipeg one day before flying out Tuesday morning. Monday night I started throwing up. Not a fun way to start the honeymoon never mind flying and traveling! I was just dreading having to fly while being sick but thankfully it ended up only staying for about five hours and then I managed to sleep most of the night. It was a great test for newly married Jeffrey and humbling for newly married Regan. I am so proud of him, he stuck by me and served me in ways I would never ask anyone too while I am sick. He definitely earned points very early on with that. ☺️
After a solid 36 hours of being Mr. and Mrs. Holm we were in an airport waiting for our connecting flight to Denver. I was really looking forward to flying again, yet still hadn’t eaten anything since lunch the previous day, needless to say caused me to feel pretty crumby. Everything went so smoothly with traveling and lay overs and delayed flights that I really have nothing to tell! I got my first ever look at the ocean from an airplane taking off from LAX. SO BEAUTIFUL! Love to look at the ocean! We took off from Winnipeg around 9 am CST and we landed in Kailua Kona at around 8 pm HST. Don’t be fooled though, it was a long day with three connecting flights and the longest layover only being 4 hours… we travel about 36 hours. We were so tired when we landed in the beautiful open air Kona airport that I almost didn’t notice that there really wasn’t a roof to the airport, and that we were walking outside to baggage claim.
After a taxi ride with a taxi driver who just could NOT understand why we would get a AirBnB when there were so many nice resorts, and was a fairly aggressive driver, we made it to our home for the next ten days. The adorable basement suit in a suburb of Kona over looking the Kona airport. To tired to really notice anything we dropped into bed. We were awakened the next morning to probably four or five barking dogs, which turned out to be a daily occurrence. We got ready for the day and realized we had 4 eggs and we also didn’t have transportation. Jeffrey figured out a rental car and we urbered to pick it up. Definitely felt very adultish getting taxis and Ubers and rental cars (which side note, its not easy to find rental companies that will rent out cars to anyone under 25 so we went to a one on one car rental app were we actually rented someones car. I am pretty sue we avoided some paper work. 100% props to Jeffrey for finding that app).
We picked up our car and went to Target!! Oh how I missed Target my friend! We got groceries to last us the next while and save us money on eating out all the time. It was so nice actually just having meals at our little house, we didn’t have to pick places to eat or through out a bunch of money we didn’t have, and we really just enjoyed being together and completely relaxing.
